1st Birthday Poems

This is a fun page with a few simple samples of 1st birthday poems for your little one on his or her special day, such as the beautiful little poem below:

A little bird sat in a tree
And whispered something nice to me

I said i’d pass it on to you
With all my love and Kisses too

Happy 1st Birthday!

Cute little poem isn’t it?

A first birthday poem doesn’t have to be funny, though it certainly can be. In fact, elsewhere on this website there is a whole page on Funny Birthday Poems you can check out, if you like.

The little birthday poems on this page are more sincere and loving than comical, and you will find that they are the perfect choice of  poems for your little one.

If you want to give your birthday boy or girl a special little card for their birthday, you may want to consider one of the birthday poems below as a great choice.

You can also find some great birthday quotes and birthday sayings on some of the other pages, along with funny birthday quotes, funny birthday messages, and funny birthday sayings. A bit of humor goes a long way, so check out some of the other pages on the site for a few samples of funny stuff like the funny Happy Birthday song.

Poems for the Little One

We will leave the humor for the other pages, and focus more on the cute little poems that you can add to your birthday child’s card to make it special.

Sure the poetry may be a bit too complex for the vocabulary of your little guy or little princess, but it can be a cute addition to your child’s first birthday card. Seeing as you are probably going to save the card in the baby’s book of memories, it’s definitely worth the effort to make it special.

The poem below is a personal favorite, as it is a cute little birthday wish for your little one. It is always nice to greet a child with good wishes, which is why the people around the world have so many crazy traditions (check out the Happy Birthday Song page to see more) that wish the child luck on their new year. Here is a  cute little poem wishing the best for your child:

To wish a Happy Birthday
To someone good as gold!
A day that’s simply full of fun
Now you are ONE year old!

See how cute the little poem is? It makes a great addition to your child’s birthday card, and will make your card sincere and make you look like a great poet (no one needs to know you got it from here).

Here’s another cute little poem you can put in your child’s birthday card:1st birthday poems - pink love heart silly happy ladybug

You’re as cute as a bug
So precious to hug

A darling child
Who’s nice to be near

So.. hope turning one
Is happy and fun

And takes you along
To a second great year

This adorable poem is usually given to little girls, as they truly look radiant in their cute little ladybug or butterfly suit on their birthday. In fact, you can use this poem for your bug-themed party if you want to stay consistent with the overall theme, and you can show your beautiful baby girl just how much you love her.

Here’s one for your little boy, and it is a wonderful little rhyme that will show him your love in a cute, childish way:

This is your first Birthday
A very special one
A nice kind of day
For treats and lots of fun.

From the time you get up
Till you go Nighty night
Hope your first Birthday
Is a special delight.

Isn’t that a cute little poem that wishes your little one a very special birthday, which it is indeed. The first year of the child’s life is filled with many “firsts”, such as the first words, the first steps, the first time crawling, the first time eating solid foods, and the first birthday. It is a very special year, but each year will be more special than the last as you watch your beautiful little one growing into a cute slightly larger one.

What is a one year old like?1st birthday poems - love heart baloons orange present

A One-year-old child is so many things -
A tiny discoverer of butterfly wings,
A hugger of Teddies,
A sweet sleepyhead,
And someone to dream for in bright years ahead …

Most one year olds are absolutely adorable little bundles of joy that bring so much happiness to the heart of Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunty, Uncle, Cousin, Nephew, Niece, and Good Friend alike. They are so happy just to be alive, and everything they do is a brand new experience that they approach with wide-eyed wonder.

Your child is a wonderful gift that you must treasure, love, and care for. Your throwing a birthday party is just one small way of showing love to your adorable little one, and there are many more things you will learn to do over the years.

It is so much easier to love the little one while he or she is still small, as they are so innocent and lovable. It can become more of a challenge to love them unconditionally as they get older and start making mistakes, poor choices, and other decisions that will affect them (and perhaps you, too) adversely, so enjoy their sweet innocence while they still have it.

Below is another poem you can use for your child’s birthday card:

Because today’s your 1st Birthday
And you’re so special too,
Everything that’s happy,
Is being wished for you.

Have a lovely day

Cute isn’t it? It’s a simple little rhyme that wishes your child a happy birthday, but it will be the perfect choice if you want your child’s card to be short and sweet. You don’t have to overdo it or go all out with the card, but this simple first birthday poem is cute, sincere, and the perfect addition to your child’s first birthday card.

1st Birthday Poems: Words from the Wise

A wise man once said:

Count your life by smiles, not tears.

Count your age by friends, not years.

Your little one is going to grow up into a big kid soon, and you have to teach him or her the important of friends rather than the importance of things.

If you want your child to grow into a mature adult one day (hopefully a long time off so you can enjoy cuddling your baby while he or she is still a child), then you are going to have to start teaching them the right things. What better thing to teach them than the importance of friends and happiness?

Here’s a cute little poem expounding on little boys and little girls. He or she may not yet be old enough to understand everything in the poem, but it is a great first birthday poem that you can use for the birthday card:

What Are Little Girls Made Of?1st birthday poems - funny girl red love heart baloon humor

Girls are made of sugar ‘n spice,

Everything sweet, & everything nice,

Girls are ruffles, bonnets, and bows,

Dimpled smiles and dancing toes,

They’re tears and giggles, dolls and curls,

That’s how it is with little girls.

——————————————-

What Are Little Boys Made Of?

Boys are made of chuckles & grins,

Tousled hair and banged-up shins,

Things with wheels & frogs in pockets

Questions, baseball caps, & rockets;

They’re joy & mischief, fun & noise-

That’s how it is – boys will be boys!

Kids are such a joy, and they each grow into something truly amazing.

Each child presents their parents with a unique opportunity for growth and change, as they interact in a unique way with each person they come in contact with.

There is nothing like a child to help you change yourself and become a better person, and you can look forward to another 20 years (at the very least) of making changes in your life to adjust to life with a baby, toddler, child, adolescent, teenager, young adult, and adult.

Henry Ward Beecher said:

“Children are the hands by which we take hold of heaven.”

How true it is, as the children are so simple and pure that we can see what life would be life in Heaven.

An old English proverb says:

“The soul is healed by being with children.”

Anyone who has spent a lot of time being around children know just what that’s like, as they can really feel a change in their moods or emotions when they spend time around children. Innocent kids are so happy for every little thing, and they have nothing to cloud their emotions or make their days gloomy. How much more should we all strive to imitate children!

To finish off this page, a quote from Emma Goldman, a famous author, sums up in a few words what it really means to be a child:

“No one has yet fully realized the wealth of sympathy, kindness and generosity hidden in the soul of a child. The effort of every true education should be to unlock that treasure.”
